Premium Shallot (small onion, cheriya ulli) in a 250 g pack. Shallots are a cornerstone of Kerala cooking, giving a sweeter, more aromatic flavour than big onions. Crush them for chammanthi and thoran, slice them for the tempering on sambar, rasam and moru curry, or cook them whole in ulli theeyal.

They are also used in fish curry, egg roast, beef fry and in the tempering for many vegetable dishes.

Store unpeeled shallots in a cool, dry, airy place, not in the fridge. They keep for a week or more.
