Fresh Pomegranate (mathalanaranga) in a 500 g pack. Pomegranate seeds are sweet, tangy and juicy, perfect as a snack, in fruit salads, over curd rice, raitha and chaat, or squeezed into fresh juice.

To open one without a mess, score the skin into quarters, break it apart over a bowl of water and loosen the seeds with your fingers. The white pith floats up and the seeds sink.

Whole pomegranates keep for about a week at room temperature or longer in the fridge. Store the separated seeds in a closed box in the fridge and eat within a couple of days.
