Fresh Lemon (naranga) in a 100 g pack. Lemons find many uses in Kerala homes: squeezed into naranga vellam (lime juice) on a hot day, made into the classic naranga achar (lemon pickle), or used to marinate fish and chicken before frying.

A squeeze of lemon also lifts salads, egg dishes, rice and dal, and a slice in tea is an easy favourite.

Lemons keep for a few days at room temperature. For longer, store them in the fridge in a closed bag or box, and roll them on the counter before cutting to get more juice.
