Kovakka (ivy gourd) in a 250 g pack, ozone washed. These small, crunchy gourds are a Kerala favourite, cut into thin rounds or strips for kovakka thoran with grated coconut, kovakka mezhukkupuratti with shallots and garlic, or a spicy kovakka fry.

Choose firm green kovakka for cooking; any that turn reddish inside are riper and softer, but still fine to use.

Store in the fridge in a paper bag or open box and use within three to four days. Wash just before cutting.
